Hi and welcome to The Blue Plate Special! Would you like to log yourself in?

A word of caution before you enter my shop: I’m a collector, not a seller. My 500+ eBay positive feedbacks were hard won in auctions as the bidder. Should that matter to you? Actually, I hope my experiences in the eBay field of battle will make me more sensitive to buyers and therefore a better seller.

I know the disappointment of opening boxes with damaged contents and flaws that went unnoticed. I know what it’s like to ask a question or state a concern and never hear back. I’ll try not to let you down.

I hate superlatives in describing items for sale. I don’t like hackneyed descriptions. If you ever see me refer to any object in my shop as “Awesome Atomic Eames Era,” you can take out your virtual BB gun (Daisy Red Ryder, of course) and shoot me silly.

I’ll try to make my descriptions simple, accurate and include all known flaws.

What I’m selling is also a little different. I buy what I like, and what I like is restaurant china that I can use every day: eat out of and put in the dishwasher. It may not be recommended, but all my RW (restaurant ware) has seen the inside of a microwave, too. And more than likely, what you’ll find in The Blue Plate Special are stock patterns that may not be the most intriguing or rare, but they’ve stood the test of time with their simplicity and integrity intact.

And I’ll be offering them, when possible, in groups: perhaps a set of six plates, all for one price; a grouping of bowls; a platter that matches. With a few clicks you’ll be able to mix and match your way to a vintage dining experience.

The most unusual items you’ll find at The Blue Plate Special will be selected pieces from my large collection of flip-top sugar bowls – long ago a mainstay of diner counters. Once you’ve taken a look at the flips, as I call them, you might want to read more about them on my website.

And last, please use the “Contact Us” link to contact me with any questions you have.

FEATURED TREASURE!

Don't let the world get you down. Relax at the end of the day
with a therapeutic cup of hot herb tea, served in a coffee pot from
the world-reknown Battle Creek Sanitarium. It is extremely rare
and in excellent condition.

Trust me, not everyone at the PTA has one of these!
